The Windows operating system comes with a lot of unnecessary elements, which can take up a considerable portion of your available disk space. This is especially true when it comes to Windows 10, through which Microsoft just loves shoving pointless apps and services down our throats. Auslogics Windows Slimmer can help you trim down your Windows installation. It works like a regular disk cleanup utility, but besides temporary data, it can also remove outdated libraries, update files and other components you won't need.

Auslogics Windows Slimmer is absolutely free and it can be used on all modern Windows systems. It takes only a few seconds to install it, but you may want to look closely at what you click on, because the installer has a few offers for other tools and for setting Yahoo as your default home page. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't need to have any special tools or services installed.

There are three main sections on the software's user interface, where you can find options for regular or one-time maintenance, as well as an app list cleanup tool, which is essentially and advanced uninstaller. Navigating through these sections can be done effortlessly, via navigation tabs, located in a column, on the left side of the interface.

The One-Time Maintenance section is where you can scan for outdated WinSxS libraries, old Windows versions, update files, demo content, disabled components and system restore points. As previously mentioned, the software works like a traditional disk cleaner, so you only need to select what you wish to scan and click a button. After a quick scanning process, you can view the results in a list and choose what items to delete.

The Regular Maintenance tab contains a few options for cleaning up temporary data and other useless files. You only need to select one or more categories and hit a Scan button to proceed. As in the previous section, you can review the results and delete the found items with a single click.

If you want to free up some disk space the old fashioned way, you can use the app list cleanup tool to remove applications you have installed on your computer. Unlike regular uninstallers, this one actually shows you everything that is installed on your system, including all the bloatware that comes with Windows 10, like the Xbox game bar and other components you will probably never use. What's more, the software lets you know which applications are trustworthy or not and it even provides an option for Googling selected items.

With its quick and effective functionality, Auslogics Windows Slimmer will make your operating weigh less on your hard drive and work more efficiently.

Pros

You can remove unnecessary components from Windows, as well as temporary data and other junk data. The software's built-in uninstaller can remove apps that are not visible in the default uninstaller. Auslogics Windows Slimmer works fast and it is quite easy to use

Cons

You need to be careful with the installer, if you don't want to set up other tools on your system or make unwanted changes.
